Was Angelica’s Vision from Christ or a Deception?

In recent years, testimonies like Angelica’s have spread widely, where she claimed to see Christ, the Virgin Mary, and visions of hell. But we must be cautious: not every supernatural vision comes from God. The devil himself can appear as “an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14) to mislead believers, especially in the last times.

There are several signs that Angelica’s experience may not have been from Christ:

  • Christ’s humility: She described Him with golden sandals, a golden girdle, and grand earthly symbols of kingship. Yet the true Christ never needed such displays. His presence alone shows He is King.
  • The Virgin Mary: The vision downplayed or dismissed the role of the Mother of God, even though she constantly intercedes for humanity. This silence about her is a mark of deception, for it is precisely her prayers that trouble the spirit of Antichrist.
  • The saints: In Orthodox tradition, when saints experience a true vision of Christ, they are crushed in heart, filled with compunction and “joyful sorrow” (χαρμολύπη). Angelica, by contrast, reacted with excitement and even laughter — something unknown in the genuine mystical life of the Church.
  • No glorification of the Trinity: Nowhere in her testimony was there true praise of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is another red flag, for the devil never glorifies the Holy Trinity.
  • Pointing the finger: She claimed Christ accused people directly — “You know what you did.” Yet in Scripture and the life of the Church, it is the devil, not Christ, who accuses and condemns. Christ calls to repentance with love, not mockery.

In the end, the danger is clear: false Christs and false prophets will appear, showing signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect (Mark 13:22). Experiences like Angelica’s may prepare the way for the acceptance of the Antichrist, who imitates Christ outwardly while leading souls away from the truth.

The safe path is to remain in the life of the Orthodox Church, where discernment, repentance, the prayers of the Theotokos, and the witness of the saints guard us from deception.

Her First Days After Death

1st – 3rd Day

  • The soul stays near the body and in the house where it lived.
  • It communicates with relatives and observes its funeral.
  • According to Saint Carinus the Egyptian:
    • On the 3rd day, the soul has some freedom of movement on earth.
    • On the 3rd day, it is led before God for worship.

  • The Church ends the trisagion (memorial service).

Temporary Crisis of the Soul

  • Damaskinos speaks about this period.
  • Saint Macarius the Egyptian and Saint John Chrysostom describe the “tollhouses,” trials the soul passes through involving demons and angels, depending on its life.
  • Prayer by the living (memorials, Divine Liturgy, almsgiving) benefits the soul.
  • The soul begins to perceive the beauty of Paradise.
  • This period helps the soul understand God’s promises to those who love Him.
  • On the 9th day, the soul worships God, which is why a 9-day memorial service is held.

19th – 40th Day

  • The soul is now accompanied by angels.

✨ This is our Mother ✨

A young man once heard about Elder Paisios, known for discerning people’s inner lives and giving each visitor words for their spiritual benefit.

But this man was troubled. He had lived a promiscuous life with many women and feared that the Elder might expose his sins publicly, embarrassing him in front of others. So he made a plan: he would go last in line, hoping that whatever the Elder had to say would be said in private.

When his turn finally came, Elder Paisios looked at him and said:

“What can I say to you, blessed one? The Panagia (Mother of God) does not allow me to say anything to you, because you help an orphan. She doesn’t let me rebuke you.”

🌿 The message is clear: the mercy we show, even in secret, reaches heaven. The Mother of God herself protects those who care for the helpless.

This is what the Devil has managed to do

✨This is what the Devil has managed to do: he has turned the world into a labyrinth, so that we can no longer truly understand one another.

✨What has happened to us without our realizing it? Do you see how deceived we have been? We have turned our world and our own age into a great asylum — and yet we cannot even understand what is wrong with us.

✨We all wonder: “What have we become? Where are we heading? Why have our children taken to the streets? Why have they left their homes? Why have they abandoned life itself, their education, their future? Why is this happening?”

✨The Devil has succeeded in hiding his presence, persuading people to give him other names.

✨Doctors and psychologists, when someone suffers, often say: “Ah, you have neurosis! Ah, you have anxiety!” and the like. They do not admit that it is the Devil who provokes and stirs up pride within the human heart.

✨And yet, the Devil exists. He is the spirit of evil. To deny his existence is to deny the very Gospel that speaks of him. He is our enemy, the adversary of our souls, the one opposed to Christ — and he is called the Antichrist.

✨Christ came into the world to free us from the Devil and to grant us salvation.

✨The conclusion is clear: we must teach our children to live humbly and simply, without seeking praise or applause. We must show them that humility is real, and that humility is the health of life.

✨The spirit of today’s society harms our children. It follows another psychology, another pedagogy — one meant for the children of unbelievers. Such a spirit leads only to lawlessness.

✨And we see the results in the lives of our children and young people. Today the youth cry out: “You must understand us!”

But we must not surrender to them. Rather, we must pray for them, speak the truth, live it, proclaim it — without ever conforming ourselves to their spirit.

✨We must never destroy the greatness of our Faith. To truly help them does not mean adopting their mindset.

✨We must remain who we are — witnesses to the truth and bearers of the light.

✨It is from the Holy Fathers that children will learn. The Fathers’ teaching will instruct them about confession, about passions, about vices, about how the Saints conquered their fallen selves.

And we will pray that God Himself may dwell within them.✨

Saint Porphyrios for depression

From the book "Life and Discourses of Elder Porphyrios Kaufsokalybitos," we were advised by Elder Porphyrios. It happens many times today that man feels sadness, despair, indolence, laziness, apathy, and all the satanic things. being sad, crying, being depressed, not paying attention to his family, spending a lot of money on psychotherapy to get medicine. These people call it insecurity. Our religion believes that these are tempting things. Pain is a mental force that God put in us with the purpose of doing good, loving, experiencing joy, and praying. Instead, the devil succeeds and takes this psychic power from the battery of our soul and uses it for evil. It makes her depressed and brings the soul to cruelty and abomination. It tortures man, makes him his prisoner, makes him mentally ill. [music]There's a secret. Turn evil energy into good. It is difficult and requires some preparation. Preparation is humiliation. By humility, you draw away the grace of God. Grow in God's love. His worship, in prayer, and in all that you do,you have accomplished nothing unless you have attained humility. All the bad feelings, the insecurity, the despair, the disappointment that go to wax the soul leave with humility. The one who has no humility, the egoist, does not want you to cut his will, to touch him, to give him hints. He gets upset, gets angry, rebels, reacts, gets depressed. This condition is cured by grace. The soul must turn to the love of God. The healing will come by loving God with a longing. Many of our saints turned depression into joy through love for Christ. In other words, they took this mental power that the devil wanted to crush and gave it to God and turned it into joy and rejoicing. Prayer, the worship of God, slowly changes depression and turns it into joy because it works by the grace of God. Here, you need to have the strength to extract the grace of God that will help you unite with him. It takes art. When you give yourself to God and become one with him, you will forget the evil spirit that was pulling you from behind. and that thus despised shall depart. Then, as long as the Spirit of God is absent, you will not look behind you to see the one who draws you. When grace draws you, you unite with God. And when you unite with God and give yourself to him, everything else falls into place. You forget, and you are saved. So the great art, the great secret to get rid of depression and all the negatives, is to give yourself the love of God. One thing that can help the depressed is work, interest in life, the garden, plants, flowers, trees, the countryside, a walk in the countryside, all these things take a person out of inactivity and create other interests for them. They act like drugs. Dealing with art does a lot of good. But what I attach the greatest importance to is the interest in the church, in the study of the Holy Bible, in the services. By studying the words of God,one is healed without realizing it. Let me tell you about a girl who came to me humbly. He went through a terrible depression. He didn't do anything with the drugs. She gave up everything, her job, her home, her hobbies. And I told her what I know. I told her about the soul-capturing love of Christ. because the grace of God fills the soul and changes it. I explained to her that this power that takes over the soul and turns the mental power into depression is demonic. He knocks her down, tortures her, and anoints her. I advised her to engage in various occupations, such as the music she liked first. But I emphasized more her conversion and love for Christ. I also told her that in our church, there is healing with love for God and prayer, but it is done with longing. This is the secret of healing. This is what our church accepts.

Why Orthodoxy Is the One True Faith (Orthodox Christian Perspective)

Orthodox Christianity teaches that it is the true faith because it has preserved the original and unchanged teachings of Christ and the Apostles for over two thousand years. Unlike other Christian traditions, Orthodoxy did not add or remove doctrines, but kept the same apostolic faith, worship, and spiritual life from the early Church.

  1. Unbroken Apostolic Continuity
The Orthodox Church believes it has maintained an unbroken line of teachings, sacraments, and bishops going back directly to the Apostles.
  2. Pure and Undistorted Doctrine
Orthodoxy never accepted later innovations such as the Filioque, papal supremacy, or other teachings added in the West. It maintains the same theology defined by the first seven Ecumenical Councils.
  3. The Original Christian Worship
The Divine Liturgy of the Orthodox Church is the same ancient worship of the early Christians, full of Scripture, reverence, and deep spiritual meaning.
  4. The Experience of the Saints
The Orthodox Church produces saints who perform miracles, see divine light, and experience God directly. This living holiness is seen as proof that the Holy Spirit remains in the Church.
  5. Unity of Faith and Spiritual Life
Orthodoxy preserves not only the original doctrine, but also the original spiritual path: repentance, humility, asceticism, noetic prayer, and the healing of the soul.
  6. The One Church of the Creeds
When we confess in the Creed, “One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church,” Orthodoxy understands this not symbolically but literally — that it is the same Church founded by Christ Himself.

The Orthodox Church: History, Theology, and Spiritual Life

1.

Unbroken Apostolic Tradition

  • The Orthodox Church traces its direct succession from the Apostles without interruption.
  • It has preserved the original Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed, unchanged, unlike the Roman Catholic addition of the Filioque clause.
  • Its liturgical life remains rooted in the ancient services of the early Church, especially the Divine Liturgies of St. John Chrysostom and St. Basil the Great.

2.

Saints and Miracles

  • Throughout history, Orthodoxy has continuously produced saints whose lives manifest God’s presence.
  • Incorrupt relics (e.g., St. Spyridon, St. Dionysios) testify to divine grace.
  • Modern saints like St. Paisios the Athonite and St. Porphyrios of Kafsokalivia continue to inspire the faithful through their teachings and miracles.
  • Each year, the Holy Fire in Jerusalem descends only during the Orthodox Patriarch’s prayer on Holy Saturday, witnessed by thousands, and regarded as a sign of divine confirmation.

3.

Theology of the Heart (Hesychasm)

  • Orthodox spirituality is centered not merely on external observance but on the inner life of the heart.
  • The Jesus Prayer — “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me” — is the path to inner purification and watchfulness.
  • The ultimate aim of the Christian life is theosis: union with God by His grace, sharing in His divine life, beyond moral improvement alone.

4.

Sacraments and Worship

  • Orthodox worship preserves the mystical character of early Christianity.
  • The Holy Mysteria (Sacraments) — Baptism, Chrismation, Confession, Eucharist, Marriage, Ordination, and Unction — remain unchanged in their meaning and practice from the time of the Apostles.
  • The Divine Liturgy is not merely a ritual, but a real participation in the heavenly kingdom, making present Christ’s eternal sacrifice.

5.

No Centralized Human Authority

  • Unlike the Roman Catholic Pope, the Orthodox Patriarch does not claim infallibility or universal dominion.
  • The Orthodox Church is conciliar: decisions are made in councils (synods), reflecting the apostolic model of shared responsibility and unity.
  • This safeguards the Church from being bound to the opinion or will of a single individual.

Conclusion

If Christ entrusted His truth to the Apostles, and if that truth has been preserved without distortion, then the Orthodox Church — in its worship, saints, teachings, and living miracles — stands as the continuation of the original Church.

Signs such as the Holy Fire are seen as tangible confirmation that God’s grace still rests upon Orthodoxy, guiding the faithful on the path to union with Him.
