And the fire was consuming, one by one, the members with which it had sullied itself in the world.
On looking attentively at one of the cisterns, he recognized the one who was being tormented in it; it was one of those who are marked out in the world, and whom the Scriptures call effeminate.
He likewise saw monks subjected to punishments in that place, and he questioned the angel who was walking with him, 'What evil have these done to be brought here?'
The angel answered, 'Those whom you see are quite pure as regards the body, but they are idlers who go about in places where brothers live as anchorites. They speak evil of the other brothers living near [those they are visiting], knowing that the latter are not on good terms with the former, and thus they think they will find favor on account of their slanders, to get food and drink. And when they leave these [brothers] and go away elsewhere, in turn, they speak ill of those they have been flattering in the ears of those they had just been slandering, again to be well-received by these others. And so for their slanders, they have been cast into these hard torments that never cease.'
The torturing angels were quite filled with joy and gladness... And if the souls they are tormenting beg them to have pity on them, they are full of anger toward them and punish them more with fierce torments. When souls are brought in and turned over to them, they are overjoyed — like one who has made an immense gain — happy over the downfall of the wicked.
As our father Pachomius was looking at the punishments with the angel who accompanied him, one of the torturing angels tugged at him and said joyfully, 'Come, Pachomius, let me show you these other wicked punishments.'
Our father Pachomius, seeing himself gaily dragged by him to look at all these punishments, was amazed at the nature of these pitiless angels and at the way they rejoiced over such evil torments. As for him, he was very sad at the sight of the sufferings in which were found the wretched souls of impious men who were being tormented.
When he had gone on a bit he saw an innumerable crowd of souls of all ages being roughly bustled along by the pitiless torturing angels. Once more he asked his accompanying angel who these souls were and he was told, 'These are the souls of sinners who died today throughout the world, and they are being classified for punishment according to their deserts.'
Having gone on once more toward the west with the angel who was accompanying him and showing him the punishments, he saw down below an opening at the gate of hell. Hell itself is very deep; it is dark and sends out heat like a hearth. This place is the Lord's prison.
When men are brought in, they are hurled into it; they utter loud cries, 'Woe is me for not knowing the God who created me that I might be saved.' Then they cannot speak at all because of the heat and the thick mist of the place. And they no longer recognize each other because of the darkness and the distress that grips them.
Going further on, toward the southwest, he saw there other harsh punishments, of the sort which he had previously seen to the north and by which the souls were being punished.
He was further shown a kind of large house of stone whose length, breadth, and height were enormous. It was full of fire. Into it were thrown all the young people who in this world have sullied their bodies with impurity, unbeknownst to their parents; that is why they are enduring these fierce torments for evil and impure acts that are wicked before God and before men.
It happened that when the angel had finished showing our father Pachomius all the punishments and the sufferings of the torments they entailed by command of the Lord, he counseled him urgently in these terms, 'Pachomius, bear witness to the brothers of all that you have seen, so that they may strive not to fall into such evil punishments. God has sent me to you to show you all this; in turn bear witness of it to the brothers and to the whole world, that they may do penance and be saved.'
From that day on when our father Pachomius assembled the brothers for the instruction, he spoke to them first on the Scriptures because they are the main thing and the breath of God; then he would inform them about all the punishments he had seen and about the sufferings they entailed, and concerning which the angel had given him instructions from the Lord so that they might have the fear of God and might avoid sinning and falling into such punishments and into the tortures which he had seen.
Do you want me to mention a series of signs I am aware of, so that we do not just speak in the abstract?

[Morphou]: So, the things I personally believe will take place,
both through the prophetic words of the saints who are now in the triumphant church [i.e., who are now canonized],
but also through some saintly people who are still alive,
as the church does not cease giving birth to saints—
sainthood does not end with St. Paisios and St. Porphyrios.
We keep having [within the Orthodox church] saintly people who "see."
Let’s pay attention to this one, who "see."
So, the timeline of the events which are expected during our time is the following.
A big earthquake will occur in Greek territory.
This [earthquake] will cause a population movement.
At the same time, close to this event…
[Elita]: Which is going to be a real earthquake … [she is asking to know if the term is used metaphorically or literally].
[Morphou]: Yes, of course, by earthquake, I mean a geophysical earthquake.
And it is going to be of great magnitude.
Already, a lot of small earthquakes are taking place in the area of the Aegean Sea and Greece.
I have a hope that this is due to the prayers of Panagia [the Virgin Mary]
so that the big earthquake won’t arrive, but “will be divided into” a lot of smaller earthquakes.
Because the providence of God works in such ways,

It is, however, necessary that we "activate" this prayer of the saints.
Do you know what Panagia said to a man of God who is alive?
[Panagia]: “I pray that this earthquake will not happen to our Greece.”
“But my Son and my Lord told me, ‘Mother, neither do I wish for people to suffer.’”
[Christ]: “You come to Me and beg Me, but your hands are empty, Mother.”
“They [her hands] do not carry prayers of the faithful.”
“They do not pray anymore.”
“And even the ones who pray, their prayers are ‘cold.’”
[Morphou]: This is really tragic.
If this show has a purpose, it is to "activate’"and "heat up" our frozen prayers, the prayers of us Christians.
I am not concerned with the people who doubt the signs and the prophecies.
[Elita]: Usually, we pray [only] to ask for something, when, instead, the prayer should be full of repentance, as you told us.
[Morphou]: [Especially] when we witness the signs [taking place],
when we see that the eruptions of volcanos have increased.
The earthquakes in the whole of the world have increased.
The war zones, the threats of war, famines, immigrations.
[Elita]: Social inequality.
[Morphou]: The explosion of corruption and perversion, its legalization.
Where do all these things lead to?
[Elita]: Go on…
[Morphou]: Hence, you realize that a sign we expect—and we hope that God will “repress” it—is the earthquake.
It’s not going to take place just in Greece, [though] we are concerned with our [geographical] area [right now].
Earthquakes of the same magnitude will take place in other places.
In America, they say that something much, much, much greater than an earthquake will take place.
One is scared even to say something like this about America.
Right after, the Turks will attack.
They will take advantage of the lack of preparedness.
There won’t be a [Greek] government [at the time].
“You will have a government, but, in fact, it won’t [be able to] govern,” he [St. Paisios] says.
If you think about that—having or not having a government—it does not seem that far away, at least as far as Greece is concerned.
The Turks will attack.
First, at a small island and afterwards, at a bigger one.
In the past, they were talking about the «εξαμίλια»/ examilia [translated as “six miles”] and some interpreted it falsely.
[They thought] that "examilia" refers to a geographical location in Greece.
[Indeed] there are places in Greece, even near Corinth, called Examilia—it's a village.
But Saint Paisios, with his enlightened nous, told us that "the examilia" refers to the six miles of the territorial sea [of Greece],
which is going to be the pretext for the Turks to claim...
[Elita]: What they are doing right now...
[Morphou]: What they are doing right now, and they want to terminate the Treaty of Lausanne.
[Elita]: So, a small island and a big island will be attacked.
[Morphou]: Yes, they will attack.
I am impressed that people [already] fear this a lot.
[Elita]: The scholars, the analysts of such events have already started saying that
since Erdogan is not content with [the idea of] the creation of a Kurdish state—

At least, let us know what the saints of our faith have said.
[Morphou]: I hope so; I hope so.
I am not saying that I am one [who knows], but we strive so that our people are prepared,
so they are not panicking and we [can] prepare more with strong prayer and repentance.
[Elita]: Yes, we will get there, Your Eminence.
A small island and a big island.
[Morphou]: Yes, and let this not panic people a lot, because this will not last more than three days.
[Elita]: Yes, I [too] remember that, [just] three days.
[Morphou]: Everybody [of the saintly people] says so, both those who are alive and those who are in heaven. Three days.
The Turks will do a few things because they are scared.
Although, their impertinence will be unbelievable!
These three days, our people will be scared. I also asked about [what will happen with] Cyprus.
[Elita]: I was going to ask you right now about that… we are living right next [to the Turks].
[Morphou]: I asked a man of God who is of great sainthood.
I believe that when some years pass, he is going to have his own holy icon.
We will venerate him.
And I asked him, “What will happen with Cyprus.”
“I am a Cypriot and I am concerned for my homeland.”
All the more, "I am burned" by the Turks and, in general, by the coup d’états and the invasions [that happened to Cyprus].

God is righteous.
He proves [the fact] that He is righteous to all people [of the world].
The fact that we have these prophets and these saints to prepare us, let us be grateful about it.

[Morphou]: No, no, no… Saint Philoumenos said that the Turks will provoke an incident of intimidation to Cyprus. Intimidation from the sea.

[Elita]: We definitely do, and we listen carefully to the Orthodox account of the events.
[Morphou]: Saint Paisios, who is “a mouth of God without lie” regarding [what takes place] in our age,
talked about “a slap” as far as Cyprus is concerned.
[Elita]: Meaning?
[Morphou]: He said that Cyprus “will endure a slap.”
And I believe that this intimidation [by Turkey] will be “the slap.”
[Elita]: By sea…
[Morphou]: Yes, I think.
[Elita]: At the same time that Greece will be threatened?
[Morphou]: Yes, this will take place at the same time when the two islands will be threatened.

[Morphou]: This threat will frighten the Greek world.

At a time when other countries of Western Europe, America, Russia,[and the] neighboring Middle East will suffer from a [Third] World War,
Greece and Cyprus will not [suffer this World War],
and they will be safe countries so that other people can come and protect themselves.
Do you know that what is happening right now with [some] Turks
who are leaving Turkey because they cannot bear the Erdogan regime and going to the [Greek] islands and other places of Greece
and buying or renting houses, asking for asylum, and are feeling that Greece is a safe place, despite Greece’s own problems ...
[Do you know that this] has been foretold by some people of God?
[Elita]: It has been said too.
[Morphou]: The saints have said it.
And that these people will love Greece so much, as well as Orthodoxy as a faith,
that they, themselves, will choose it [as their own faith].
And when Turkey "calms down" after the big disasters,
[which will occur] due to her arrogance, which rests upon her leaders but also [Turkish] people,
it says that they will become the [Orthodox] missionaries [back] to Turkey… unfathomable events!
[These events], however, are [already] being "scheduled" through the events that have already started taking place.
Following these events, for her own reasons, and not because of sympathy towards us,
Russia will wage a terrific war of a few days against Turkey.
