Prophecies of Saint Paisios the Athonite
“After the great war that will take place between Russia and Turkey, Cyprus will then receive its share of freedom.”
According to prophecies attributed to Saint Paisios, the following events are described:
• A major war will occur between Russia and Turkey.
• At first, Turkey will appear to be winning, but in the end Russia will prevail.
• As a result of this conflict, Constantinople will be returned to the Greeks.
• The Turkish population will be divided into three parts:
– one third will perish,
– one third will convert to Orthodox Christianity,
– and one third will move inland.
• These events are also linked to the eventual liberation of Cyprus.
These prophecies are widely circulated within Orthodox tradition and are approached as spiritual and historical interpretations.

Aziz Paisios’a atfedilen kehanetlere göre:
• Rusya ile Türkiye arasında büyük bir savaş çıkacaktır.
• Başlangıçta Türkiye galip gibi görünecek, ancak sonunda Rusya kazanacaktır.
• Bu savaşın sonucunda Konstantinopolis (İstanbul) Yunanlara geri verilecektir.
• Türk halkı üçe bölünecektir:
– üçte biri yok olacak,
– üçte biri Ortodoks Hristiyanlığı kabul edecek,
– üçte biri iç bölgelere çekilecektir.
• Bu olaylar Kıbrıs’ın nihai özgürlüğüyle de ilişkilendirilmektedir.
