A young man once heard about Elder Paisios, known for discerning people’s inner lives and giving each visitor words for their spiritual benefit.
But this man was troubled. He had lived a promiscuous life with many women and feared that the Elder might expose his sins publicly, embarrassing him in front of others. So he made a plan: he would go last in line, hoping that whatever the Elder had to say would be said in private.
When his turn finally came, Elder Paisios looked at him and said:
“What can I say to you, blessed one? The Panagia (Mother of God) does not allow me to say anything to you, because you help an orphan. She doesn’t let me rebuke you.”
🌿 The message is clear: the mercy we show, even in secret, reaches heaven. The Mother of God herself protects those who care for the helpless.
