Morfou Neophytos-Listen to what the demon answered through the possessed man's mouth.

A

Man became possessed, and they heard the demon say the following terrifying things.

It said, “Man, this is how we demons speak. Man, you commit so many sins, and your Manolis keeps forgiving you.”
Who is Manolis? Emmanuel—Christ. But it does not call Him Emmanuel. It calls Him “Manolis.”

It always tries to diminish Him.
“And Manolis,” it says, “keeps forgiving you all the time.”

“And when,” it says, “you commit some great sin, you bring in that mediator woman…”
It would not even say her name — not Mary, not Maria.
“You bring in that woman, and whatever she asks of Him, He grants her.”

A priest who was performing exorcisms at that moment asked the demon why Christ does whatever she asks.

Listen to what the demon answered through the possessed man's mouth.

“Well,” it said, “aren’t you a priest?" Don’t you know why? What kind of priest are you?”

“Because she lent Him what He did not have.”

“Because she lent Him a body, and He is forever indebted to her.”

“Listen—if you were to lend me some money in my difficult hour, and if I were a proper man, I would feel indebted to you for life.”

“I would always thank you for helping me in my difficult moment.”

“So think about it—what honor must a God have toward the one who lent Him a body?”

“Sit down, my child; that’s a very nice chair there. Sit down.”

“So, the one who lent Him the body…”

And the demon kept speaking and saying:

“Even your bodies, when Manolis created them, He created them…”

“…in the shape of the wood upon which the Jews lifted Him up.”
It would not say “cross.” It could not say “cross.”

“Open your arms for a moment,” it said.

“Open your arms and see what shape your body immediately takes.”

“Even your bodies,” it said, “He made in the shape of the wood upon which the Jews lifted Him.”

“And yet you still do not believe in Him. Or if you believe, you believe only a little.”

And another thing it said—when I heard it, what can I tell you? I shuddered.

It said the following:

“I committed one act of disobedience in Heaven. I was an angel…”

“…and I committed one disobedience in Heaven and fell forever into hell together with all my angels.”

“But you sin every day…”

“…and the moment you say ‘I have sinned,’ the other one intervenes” — meaning the Virgin Mary — “and immediately He forgives you and even wants to place you eternally with Him.”

It would not even say the word “Paradise.”

“To be with Him, to enjoy His light…”

“And I also experience that light, but I do not enjoy it. It burns me.”

“Whereas you—some of you saints already from now—and all of you who will go with Him forever…”

“Do you hear what Paradise is? The enjoyment of the uncreated divine light.”

“And what is hell? The same light. Because God is everywhere present, and even in hell His light descends.”

“But the damned and the demons, instead of experiencing that light joyfully…”

“…and as knowledge that fills them with understanding…”

“…because that light is full of information according to each one’s desires…”

“God forbid we ever go there.”

“For them, the light becomes burning fire. It convicts the conscience and burns the conscience.”

“Because we carry our conscience with us. Whatever conscience we had in this life, we carry it with us.”

“And may God make us worthy of that light…”

“…to be a delightful light, a light full of knowledge and understanding…”

“…so that we may complete what we began in this temporary life.”

And that terrifying spirit ended by saying the following:

“I committed one sin, and since then I have been in hell.”

“You sin every day, and Manolis forgives you through the intercessions of that woman.”

The priest asked, “Why did you enter this man?”

“His parents sinned,” it answered, “and later he himself became careless, and I entered.”

“Because,” it said, "he does not allow me otherwise. Do you know how many times I asked Him?”

“This is what I especially wanted to tell you. I have never said it before.”

“Do you know how many times I asked to enter and asked for a body?”

“And He does not permit me to unite with a body…”

“…with a woman, as His Spirit united with her…”

“…and He does not allow it lest evil become immortal. That is why He does not permit it.”

“How much Christ loves us—so that evil may not become immortal.”

“And not only,” it said, “does He not allow me…”

“…He leaves me unable to become a demon-man…”

“…just as He became the God-Man. The demon wants to become a demon-man.”

“Since I cannot,” it said, “He sometimes permits me, when I see someone careless…”

“…to enter into him. To enter into the image of God—meaning man—and trouble him and take hold of him.”

“Forgive me for speaking at such length, my dear Anna…”

“…but these things must be said, because I see that our world needs catechism—not only that.”
