ST. PORPHYRIOS:

ST. PORPHYRIOS: THERE ARE THREE WAYS OF SPIRITUAL LIFE

The first is to have an illness. The second is to do all your work with joy. And the third is to obey a Elder.

“What is the benefit of the last one?” “To pour yourself into your work. To work, however, with reverence, to have faith within you and prayer. In this way, you will become holy.”

Through your prayer, through Christ, you favorably influence others. Do not think badly of anyone, because then you also negatively influence them.

“Most people come here and tell me: ‘No one wants me, I am useless, they don’t understand me, they don’t love me.’” I explain to them: “All these come from egoism.

When you turn to God, you ask for nothing, you are not dissatisfied, and you are pleased with everything and everyone. You then love everyone, and they love you.

And this depends on you, because you have united with God.”

“The mother begins to educate her child from within her womb, through her spiritual experiences.”

“It is permitted,” he would say, “that God helps man to make so many inventions, and the devil uses them, and we Christians do not use them?”

“When we love Christ, our soul is freed from fear.”

“Whoever loves Christ avoids sin.”

“You are in a dark room and move your hands, trying in this way to drive away the darkness. But darkness does not go away like that. Open the window for the light to enter, and only then will the darkness leave. The light is what will drive away the darkness. Therefore, let us study the Holy Scriptures, the lives of the Saints, the Fathers; this is the light that will drive away the darkness.”

“When a country falls into much sin, then even its political matters go wrong, instead of going straight.”
