A gentleman came up and said,

“I am now an old man.

When I was a young child, my mother died.

My father worked on the ships and had to travel constantly. How could he raise me? After a short while, he married another woman, and they came here to the Panagia, to the square, just like everyone else, to sit and talk.

As soon as it began to get dark, my stepmother took me by the hand. She took me to a place where nobody else was around and threw me off the cliff.

Then she returned with crocodile tears, shouting, ‘I lost the child! The child fell! I lost the child!’

My father said she had gone mad.

Meanwhile, night had fallen.

There was no way for them to climb down the cliff. The jackals began howling.

My father, together with the village president, the policeman, the teacher, and everyone else, sat at the edge of the cliff and shouted:

‘Little Kostaki, don't be afraid. In the morning we will come and get you, Kostas.’

This continued throughout the entire night.

As soon as dawn broke, they heard Kostaki's voice:

‘Dad, I am fine! I am at such-and-such beach.’

He mentioned the place, apparently one they knew.

The people went crazy with joy.

They gathered all the ropes in the town. A young man tied himself to a large tree and climbed down.

He brought me back up from below.

As soon as my father saw me, he embraced me and said,

‘My Kostaki, why, my boy, did you leave us in agony all night when you were alive?’

I said,

‘Dad, when Mother threw me down, she was caught. She died in prison. The police were there.’

An aunt of mine took me into her arms.

My father did not understand.

He asked, ‘And why didn't your aunt shout, since you weren't shouting?’

‘She kept her hand over my mouth and told me, “No, my boy, don't shout now, because they will be killed.”’

But when morning came, she told me, ‘Now shout,’ and my aunt left.

The priest understood.

He took me by the hand and brought me inside the church.

‘Could this aunt have been Saint Irene? Saint Catherine? Saint Paraskevi?’

‘No,’ I said.

As soon as we reached the iconostasis and I saw the Panagia, I said,

‘This is the aunt who held me in her arms throughout the entire night.’

I said,

‘This Panagia became my mother at the most difficult moment. Doesn't she deserve a gift?’

I went to Canada and studied chemistry, and the first money I earned bought this chandelier.”

I was so deeply moved that everyone who came that year—one, two, five, a hundred people—I would tell them:

“Come, let me tell you a story.

Come, let me tell you a story about how our Panagia comes running to us even when we do not call upon her.”

So, as I was telling this story on the bus, as soon as I finished telling the miracle, I continued:

“You see, my Christian brothers and sisters, our Panagia…”

I could not say anything else.

Those who had been crossing themselves over their mouths were demon-possessed.

I did not know it.

But the people on the bus knew, and they grabbed them because they got up to beat me.

Feeling safe because they were holding them back, I said:

“Well, devil, you have misunderstood, because we are talking about the Panagia.”

And they said:

“You filthy old woman! In this filthy monastery you are ruining my plans!”

I thought they were insulting her.

I thought they were saying that they did not want people to hear her.

I thought they did not want people to hear her son.

And I tell you, they were so ready to beat me.

But I was safe because they were holding them, so I said,

“Ah, because this bothers you so much, I will keep saying it.”

But I assure you, when I left the monastery, a nun said to me:

“Don't go and tell the children about this, because who knows what temptation may come upon us.”

Every time we tell the story, another temptation comes.

That is how angry the devil becomes.

WE ARE CLOSE TO THE GLOBAL EVENTS

 

The Muslims were born and developed around the seventh century, and this was the work of the cousin of Muhammad’s wife, who was Jewish, and he was Jewish as well, and they wanted to strike against Christianity. This is what they always did.

And they entered into this matter, and, of course, they had the command, through demonic prompting, to exterminate the Christians. These things are being followed, and we are seeing these events.

Of course, here we must point out, to tell the truth, that we must understand that there was also the cooperation of our own “Janissaries.”

Our era resembles the era of what is called Byzantium, shortly before the Fall, after the attempt at union at Ferrara-Florence.

At that time, there were two movements: those in favor of union and those opposed to it.

The supporters of union, as you understand, were the friends of union with the Europeans. The opponents of union were fewer.

In our own time, there are again the same positions of those who favor union and those who oppose it. Please pay attention.

They are all those who studied in the West and became friends of the Westerners.

The destructive actions being carried out against the Church, against Orthodoxy, and even by those wearing cassocks, the supposed Orthodox, and, on the political level, by politicians who have betrayed and sold out the country will stop.

Saint Kosmas says that they will even impose taxes on your chicken coops, but they will not have time.

They will not have time because events will take place in our country.

Unfortunately, the anti-Greek people who have been cultivated both in political power and in ecclesiastical authority, because they followed the commands of the political authorities and became instruments, will unfortunately be pushed aside.

And I certainly pray that God will give them repentance, because it is a tragedy that after so many years inside the Church they have reached this state of great betrayal that exists today.

God never abolishes His promises. It has been centuries now since He gave these prophecies, and today we see them unfolding.

Because these things are near, we do not know the exact date. Of course, no date has been given to us.

Nevertheless, they are near, and I believe that those younger than me—and I also believe that if God allows me to survive and live a little longer—I will experience them myself.

So, you should know that we are very, very close.

Of course, there is great confusion, and many people are unbelievers. That does not concern us. Everyone can do whatever they want.

The events that are coming and are near will convince them.

The last of the prophets was our contemporary, Saint Paisios.

Someone asks, referring to this prophecy: “I asked the Elder what the developments concerning Turkey would be.”

He answers me:

“Look, the Turks will make only one provocation against Greece, and it will have to do with the territorial waters, and hunger will strike us. Greece will become hungry, and because this storm will last for some time, for months, we will say that we have nothing even to eat.”

Then I asked him:

“Elder, how will I know that we are approaching war?”

He said:

“When you hear on television that they are discussing the miles, about extending the territorial waters from six to twelve miles, then behind that comes the war.”

“What will we do? Will the Greek army take part in this war?”

“No.”

“The government will make a decision not to send the army,” he means into the Great War.

“Because whoever takes part in this great war between the states is lost.”

That is why, because there will be repentance, we Greeks will not suffer harm.

God will have mercy on Greece because the people will turn toward the Church and toward monasticism. They will begin to pray, and many Turks will be baptized, who, as I mentioned at the beginning, are secretly Christians.

The Turks will attack us, but Greece will not suffer great damage.

As we said, there are also other prophecies, but they are now well known, especially those of Saint Paisios.

Therefore, we do not need to, and we cannot, know exactly the time when these world-changing events will happen, because no such date has been given to us.

Besides, it is not right to place absolute faith in dates, because when people repent, God may suspend decisions He has made, as happened in the case of Nineveh.

The opinion, however, of many who observe the signs of the times is that we are very close to the days when these shocking events mentioned in the prophecies of the Holy Fathers of our Orthodox Church will begin to take place.

Now I will tell you, and then I will finish with the prophecy of Saint Porphyrios, a great saint who, of course, did not concern himself with prophecies.

However, during a gathering of brothers to whom he was speaking, he mentioned that God would save us through calamity.

One evening, when we had entrusted to him our sorrow and distress over everything that was happening around us, he revealed this to us:

“Our era is like the era of Christ.”

The situation was obscure and difficult then, and it is the same today in our own days.

At that time, the world had reached a miserable condition.

But God had mercy on us, and now we must not lose hope.

I see, through the midst of calamity, someone very important, a man of God, appearing.

Pay attention: he will awaken and unite the people toward what is good.

I wish you repentance, my brothers. Remain calm.

Let us turn to the Lord, who, as I said, can give us grace and sustain us through the tribulations of these days.

And let us remain optimistic, because God does not make mistakes, and He protects us on a personal level, on a family level, and on a national level.

What are the signs of witchcraft?

What are the signs of witchcraft? How can we understand whether someone has cast a spell on us? What are the characteristics? In other words, what are the symptoms of witchcraft?

What are the problems we may experience that could help us understand, more or less, whether witchcraft has been performed on us? We will mention a few things briefly so that we can help people look into this possibility when they are facing certain problems and difficulties and do not know what to do. In other words, they have reached a dead end.

Let us mention the first characteristic. Not that we have necessarily written these in a particular order, because they do not all have to occur together, nor are we ranking them. We have simply arranged them in a list.

One of the signs of witchcraft that we have included first on our list is strange headaches. In other words, a person experiences headaches and does not know where they come from. Furthermore, even if they undergo medical examinations, nothing appears in the tests.

They go to the doctor and undergo examinations, and the doctor tells them that nothing appears in the tests because they appear to be completely healthy.

while that person is experiencing severe and unexplained headaches.

So, the first sign for us is headaches. Another one, the second on our list, is nervousness and a kind of anxious state, which can create panic attacks, agitation, disturbances, arguments, and quarrels between couples.

We will also talk about this in talks about marriage. Another thing is fears. Fears are also, although they are not as important, fears that we have that something will happen to us, various incidents that happen to us, and we become afraid. We do not have the courageous and manly spirit that a soldier has.

Cowardice, that is, is of the devil. Fear is of the devil. And you can see how, through manipulation, during the pandemic, fear, so to speak, caused the whole world to submit to all the measures that governments imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

And the devil knows that fear is a very powerful motivation that can enable him, so to speak, to carry out his plans. Essentially, the devil frightens people, but he does not have authority over us.

He frightens and threatens, but we should not be afraid of him. When I sometimes read prayers of exorcism, the devil makes many threats. He says, for example, “I will make you fall asleep while you are driving and cause you to be killed.” He makes various other threats.

He says that he will cause all sorts of things to happen. He suffers because of this and attacks the priest. And sometimes he may go to the other extreme, flattering and saying things such as, “Look at the vestments they bring you,” in order to flatter the priest, make him proud, and lead him into arrogance.

So, let us move on to another sign. We said headaches were first, nervousness second, fears third, and sadness and depression fourth.

This is a terrible weapon of the devil, so to speak, which puts you into a state of discouragement. Through the satanic actions of witchcraft, the devil wants to discourage you and make you fall to your knees.

In other words, he wants to make you lose your enthusiasm, your energy, and your desire for life.

Things that you used to enjoy doing, you no longer do. You have stopped doing them. You no longer have the desire to do them, you have no enthusiasm, and you no longer have the energy to do them. And all these things, so to speak, are also presented as a result of witchcraft.

In other words, witchcraft exhausts you mentally and physically. It is described as a psychosomatic illness that affects people who have supposedly experienced demonic influences.

The next sign is pain. A person experiences pain in various parts of the body. Some parts of the body may even become deformed.

A person may even become paralyzed because of witchcraft.

They may even die because of witchcraft—black magic. They may develop illnesses that, again, cannot be scientifically explained.

So, the next sign is pain. Another is illness. Someone may develop illnesses that cannot be scientifically explained.

For example, someone may develop a dermatological problem, have a serious condition, visit many doctors, and undergo examinations, and the doctors cannot find the cause. They cannot find a treatment, cannot find any treatment at all, and the person has a terrible dermatological problem.

And as soon as this person went to church, confessed, received Holy Communion, developed a spiritual life, and came closer to God, they were immediately healed.

We are talking about an illness that may have lasted ten years, perhaps even ten years. An illness caused by witchcraft—purely by witchcraft.

Anyway, let us continue. The next sign is damage and destruction.

There are accidents.

Our car may break down, even if it is a brand-new car. We may have a car accident. Anything can happen.

The wind may blow and break a door. In other words, damage may be caused by natural disasters, floods, or anything you can imagine. The devil may even set fire to your house. He has set fire to houses. He even sets fire to churches.

Anyway, the next sign is damage and destruction. Another problem is difficulties in the workplace with colleagues.

It is the same idea Saint Cyprian speaks about in his talks: the cause of every disagreement. People do not agree with one another.

The cooperation between certain colleagues may be destroyed. The devil hates goodness, hates love, and hates people in general.

He tries again to create agitation, disturbances, quarrels, and all these things.

Another sign is that you feel tired and weak. You have no strength. This can happen.

And you should know that many times the evil one does this when a person is fasting.

When a person is fasting and has no strength, they try to get up in the morning from bed but do not have the strength to get up.

This is described as clearly satanic. And when the person then prays, it goes away. When you pray, the tiredness and weakness that the person experiences disappear.

This is also called acedia. The person does not carry out their duties. This, therefore, is also presented as a result of witchcraft. These are described as demonic influences.

Another sign is nightmares. You may have nightmares. You may dream that dogs are chasing you.

that you are constantly in a nightmare, in a painful and distressing state.

Another sign we have included is a heaviness in the chest. There is a heaviness in the chest.

a heaviness, a general heaviness upon you, and you simply do not feel like doing anything.

As we mentioned earlier, you have no desire to do anything.

These, then, are more or less some of the signs we have mentioned. Another sign, which we did not mention earlier but will add now, is yawning.

When other people pray for us, they yawn on our behalf. Pay attention to this.

And when we go to kiss the icons, we yawn. When we go to church, we yawn. When we are inside the church...

Do not boast about your faith. Do not say, “I am a good person.” Even if you fast, even if you pray, always beware of pride. For where pride exists, there can also come a fall.

The arrogant person does not see the danger. The humble person, however, asks for God’s mercy at every step.

The more you think that you are doing well spiritually, the more you should kneel down and say:

“Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me.”

But how can you become humble if you do not first learn who you truly are?

Saint Anthony leads us to a second great message: knowing ourselves.

He knew that self-knowledge is the beginning of salvation. Whoever truly knows himself can also come to know God.

Your greatest enemy is not another person. It is your own self: your thoughts, your passions, your self-love, and the pride hidden within your heart.

As long as you do not know who you really are, you will think that you have no problem. But when you begin to see the condition of your heart, you will fall to your knees and cry out to God with all your strength.

Self-knowledge is not merely psychology. It is a spiritual earthquake. It tears down the masks and brings you before God exactly as you are.

And when you stand before Him with nothing hidden, with brokenness and repentance, you will need the most powerful weapon of all: humility.

Saint Anthony knew that spiritual struggle is real. He faced temptations and demons without fear.

They frightened him, tormented him and tried to overcome him. Yet he remained steadfast and said:

“I am not afraid, because Christ is with me.”

The devil cannot bear to see a truly humble person—someone who prays with a sincere heart and struggles with faith.

Every time you humble yourself, every time you turn to God sincerely, you become stronger against temptation.

But this battle is not without obstacles.

The true Christian is tested—and not without reason.

Do not despair when temptation comes. Temptation is not only suffering. It can also become an opportunity for your faith to be revealed.

There you discover whether you truly love God.

Christ did not promise that our lives would be without pain. He showed us the way of the Cross.

When you are suffering, when you make mistakes, when you feel alone, your faith is tested and revealed.

And in the midst of temptation, one thing can keep you standing: prayer, fasting and humility.

Fasting is a spiritual weapon. It is not simply abstaining from food. It is a struggle against the old self within us.

Fasting, vigil and prayer can become weapons in the spiritual battle.

When you fast with prayer and humility, you are not fasting merely to deprive yourself. You are fasting in order to become free from the things that bind you.

Saint Anthony had wealth, but he abandoned it and followed the path of the desert. He understood that possessing material things is not itself evil; the problem begins when you depend upon them and make them the center of your life.

The person of God learns to give. And we can truly give when our hearts are no longer attached to material things.

Do not forget the tears.

Repentance is not a mechanical habit. It is the moment when the soul returns home—to God.

Therefore, learn to pray.

Learn to kneel.

Learn to say sincerely:

“Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me.”

And when you feel that you can go no further, do not rely on your own strength.

Trust in God.

For the humble person may fall, but does not despair. He rises, repents, and returns to Christ.

This is the power of humility.

This is the power of repentance.

This is the power of prayer.

Here is the Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi, known as Panagia Glossa. It is located approximately fifteen to twenty minutes from the main highway, about five minutes south of the village of Vgelaki.

The mountain is called Listognos Vouno. It received this name because, in ancient times, pirate ships would stop in this area after carrying out raids. The pirates would escape into the mountain and hide there because the terrain was very difficult to reach. In the past, there was a village here, which was eventually abandoned, and its inhabitants moved further down the mountain. Perhaps they moved because of the raids, or perhaps because of the cold; we do not know for certain. Many ruins remained in the area, which the local people called “halospida,” meaning ruined or abandoned houses. Little by little, because the area became overgrown, the local people cleared the land. The first small church that existed here was a little chapel dedicated to Zoodochos Pigi. It was originally a small country chapel belonging to the village. Some historians date the origins of the chapel to the twelfth century, while others place them in the fifteenth century. We are not certain about its exact date. As mentioned, this was originally a small chapel of Zoodochos Pigi. Later, the local inhabitants levelled the surrounding area because they wanted to use it for another purpose, possibly for construction or as a medical facility. Eventually, in nineteen seventy-six, the local Metropolitan asked for the site to be given to the Church so that a monastery could be established there. The community authorities, together with the priest, agreed and granted the land for the creation of a monastery. In nineteen seventy-six, the monastery was established. Four nuns came from the Monastery of Saint George of the Alamanos, and the foundations of a women's monastic community were laid. Later, the large Church of the Holy Trinity was built. Today, it is the katholikon, the main church of the monastery. It is a beautiful Byzantine-style church. The wooden carvings inside the church are handmade and date approximately from the nineteenth century. They are valuable works of art, decorated with beautiful symbolic representations, including the phoenix, the vine, and the peacock. The wood carvings of this church are considered to be of great artistic value. The Church of the Holy Trinity was built with the efforts of Father Kyriakos, a priest of Saint Tychon, together with his presbytera. Later, other chapels were built, including the Church of All Saints, which is located next to the Church of the Holy Trinity. On the upper floor of the monastery, there are also chapels dedicated to Saint Sabbas and Saint Ambrose. There have been many accounts of miracles associated with the prayers offered here to the Panagia. One family brought a six-year-old child who could not speak. They stayed overnight at the monastery to pray to the Panagia and ask her to help their child speak. The next morning, the child woke up and said to his mother, “Mum, I want milk.” According to the family, the child had never spoken before. They regarded what happened as a miracle of the Panagia. There have been many other testimonies of miracles. One man came and told us about his child. They came here, prayed, and took holy water. After they returned home, the child's tongue opened, and the child spoke. According to the testimony, this happened several times. There is also holy water here. The spring comes from behind the monastery, emerging from a rock. We arranged for the water to be brought forward through a fountain so that visitors could easily take it, because it was difficult for people to reach the original spring behind the monastery. There was also a case involving a woman who was in the final stages of cancer. According to her testimony, the Panagia appeared to her in a dream and told her to come to this place. She was told to follow the road and come up to the monastery, where the Panagia of Glossa was located. The woman came to the monastery and recognized the place she had seen in her dream. According to the testimony, a miracle occurred, and she was completely healed of her cancer. Another woman came with her young daughter. The girl was attending secondary school and was suffering from a serious problem in her neck. She was scheduled to undergo surgery the following day. We performed a prayer service for her and prayed to the Panagia, asking her to perform her miracle. The following day, the girl returned running, with her arms open, saying, “I have nothing. They took me into the operating room, and there was nothing wrong with me.” According to the family, they believed that the Panagia had performed a miracle. The girl continues to visit the monastery to this day and celebrates the feast of the Panagia with great joy. There was also a child from Russia who was nine years old and had never spoken a single word. The child was brought here to the monastery. After the prayer service, they were given holy oil with which to make the sign of the cross over the child. According to the testimony, the child began to speak, as if he had always been able to speak, without any difficulty. The feast of Zoodochos Pigi is celebrated on the Friday of Bright Week, the week following Easter. This Friday is dedicated to the Zoodochos Pigi, the Life-Giving Spring. Here, Zoodochos Pigi is also known as Panagia Glossa. The monastery also celebrates the Sunday of Thomas. Many people come to the monastery bringing silver offerings, asking the Panagia for her help and blessing. Over time, many people began bringing small silver plaques as offerings, with the word “Thank You” engraved on them. They leave them before the icon of the Panagia as an expression of gratitude. The many offerings bearing the word “Thank You” are deeply moving and testify to the faith and gratitude of the people who come here seeking the help and protection of the Panagia.
