Is Archbishop Georgios of Cyprus certain that he does not serve the Turkish narrative? In any case, he is not only denying the prophecy of Saint Paisios, but also the prophecy of Saint Kosmas of Aetolia — the very prophecy Saint Paisios himself interpreted.
When you reject the prophetic voice of the Saints, the pillars of the Church, you are rejecting the Church itself.
Saint Paisios did not speak fairy tales. He was not a storyteller. Others have filled us with lies. He said these things to thousands of people — not all of them were refugees. Nor did he tell them, “We have the power to drive the Turks out right now.”
To the Cypriots, he specifically said they must build spiritual foundations so that the military bases would be removed. For him, the issue of Cyprus was spiritual, not political. He urged everyone to spiritual struggle — to awaken from the sleep of sin so that Greece might attract the grace of God.
This, however, explains the un-Orthodox attitude of the current Primate of the Church of Cyprus.
If the ecumenist Archbishop Georgios truly believed in the Saints, he would not persecute a traditional hierarch who builds the living temples of God, nor would he invite heretics to the holy island of Cyprus.
He unjustly and forcibly persecutes an Orthodox bishop with false accusations.
He distorts and slanders the great Saints of our Church.
He considers the contents of the Holy Canons to be heretical.
Someone deserves to be deposed — and it is certainly not the Orthodox Tychikos.

“When many come today and say, ‘But Saint Paisios said the Turks will leave soon, they already have one foot in the grave,’ that’s how he said it. When desperate people — refugees — came before him, he had to offer them some words of comfort. To console them. When a Shepherd Questions a Saint
When the Archbishop of Cyprus publicly stated on national television that “Saint Paisios spoke comforting words to the refugees — words of consolation”, many faithful were left deeply troubled.
To call the words of a Saint mere “words of comfort” — as if they were human inventions or emotional encouragements — raises serious concern.
A Saint does not speak from imagination.
The Saints are the living vessels of the Holy Spirit; their words carry spiritual authority, born from divine illumination and prophetic grace.
To reduce their prophecies to human “stories of consolation” is not humility — it is spiritual ignorance.
The question is not whether the Archbishop meant to insult Saint Paisios personally.
The true question is: How can the head of a local Church dismiss the prophetic voice that has guided millions of Orthodox believers?
By speaking so carelessly, he risks leading others to doubt the spiritual authenticity of the Saints themselves.
And when the faithful begin to lose trust in the Saints, the very foundation of living Orthodoxy weakens.
Such statements do not arise from theological precision, but from a mindset shaped by rationalism and diplomacy — the desire to appear “reasonable” before the world rather than faithful before God.
Behind this attitude hides a subtle spiritual illness: the fear of offending worldly powers while daring to question heavenly truth.
The Saints never spoke to flatter human emotions; they spoke to awaken repentance and faith.
If the Archbishop truly believed in their holiness, he would bow before their words, not interpret them according to modern sensibilities.
It is not Saint Paisios who needs to be re-explained — it is we who must rediscover the fear of God and the reverence for the Saints of His Church.

Όταν ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Κύπρου δήλωσε δημόσια στην εθνική τηλεόραση ότι «ο Άγιος Παΐσιος μιλούσε λόγια παραμυθίας στους πρόσφυγες — λόγια παρηγορητικά», πολλοί πιστοί ένιωσαν βαθιά ταραχή.

Μιλώντας με τόση επιπολαιότητα, κινδυνεύει να οδηγήσει άλλους στο να αμφιβάλουν για την αυθεντικότητα των Αγίων.
Και όταν οι πιστοί αρχίζουν να χάνουν την εμπιστοσύνη τους στους Αγίους, τα θεμέλια της ζώσας Ορθοδοξίας κλονίζονται.
Τέτοιες δηλώσεις δεν πηγάζουν από θεολογική ακρίβεια, αλλά από νοοτροπία διαμορφωμένη από τον ορθολογισμό και τη διπλωματία — από την επιθυμία να φαίνεται κανείς «λογικός» ενώπιον του κόσμου, αντί πιστός ενώπιον του Θεού.
Πίσω από αυτή τη στάση κρύβεται μια λεπτή πνευματική ασθένεια: ο φόβος μήπως προσβάλουμε τις κοσμικές δυνάμεις, ενώ τολμούμε να αμφισβητήσουμε την ουράνια αλήθεια.
Οι Άγιοι ποτέ δεν μιλούσαν για να κολακέψουν τα ανθρώπινα συναισθήματα· μιλούσαν για να ξυπνήσουν τη μετάνοια και την πίστη.
Αν ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος πίστευε πραγματικά στην αγιότητά τους, θα υποκλινόταν στα λόγια τους, δεν θα τα ερμήνευε σύμφωνα με τα σύγχρονα κριτήρια.
Δεν είναι ο Άγιος Παΐσιος που χρειάζεται επανερμηνεία — εμείς είμαστε που πρέπει να ξαναβρούμε τον φόβο του Θεού και τον σεβασμό προς τους Αγίους της Εκκλησίας Του.
